Terms & Conditions

How it works:
  • The scheme is set up to purchase standard domestic heating oil. No other type of oil will be handled.
  • The club Co-ordinator places notices on the boards in Grantley and Sawley, in the Fountain magazine, in the Parish Council’s newsletter and e-mails existing members to advise when the next order will be placed. (Approximately 8 times per year.)
  • Existing members (or new members joining) let the Co-ordinator know how much oil they require – either a fixed number of litres (minimum order 500 litres) or ‘fill the tank’. The Co-ordinator must have an estimate in litres of the likely quantity so that there is an idea of the total volume required by the club when negotiating with suppliers.
  • The club Co-ordinator contacts several suppliers (more than three) for the best price based on the total volume required in any one buying cycle and places an order for an estimated volume of litres and the number of drops required.
  • The club Co-ordinator confirms the names and addresses of those requiring an oil delivery to the chosen supplier.
  • The club Co-ordinator emails those people buying in that cycle and advises the agreed price, delivery date(s), supplier and contact number for the supplier.
  • The oil is delivered on the agreed day(s) – the supplier sends an invoice for the oil delivered to the individual’s address.
  • The invoice is payable directly to the supplier by the recipient within the supplier’s terms and conditions period.
  • The club Co-ordinator cannot be held responsible for any incorrect, missed or delayed deliveries on behalf of the supplier.

PLEASE NOTE: THE CLUB CO-ORDINATOR AND THE PARISH COUNCIL DO NOT HANDLE ANY MONEY OR PAYMENT WHATSOEVER.

Who can join?
Anyone (preferably with an email address) who lives within the parish of Grantley, Sawley, Skelding & Eavestone (also covering Risplith). If you do not have email, please try to team up with someone in the club who does to make it easier for the Co-ordinator to pass on information.

Orders are placed every couple of months, so there is little chance of anyone running short where adequate on-site storage is present.

Please remember:
  • We don’t know the discounted price before the bulk order is placed, so we can’t tell you in advance how much you will be paying per litre.
  • Current retail prices can be checked on line at either www.heatingoil.co.uk or www.boilerjuice.com to give an idea for budgeting.
  • Similarly, we don’t know who the supplier will be in advance: the Co-ordinator selects the one offering the best price.
  • You don’t have to buy oil through the club in every buying cycle, but once you do place an order you are obligated to receive the delivery requested.
  • You can withdraw from the club at any time by letting the Co-ordinator know in writing or by e-mail, and your details will be removed from the database.
  • All deliveries, once arranged, are most likely to be completed on the same day (to suit supplier) so residents need to ensure that the delivery driver can access their tank easily.
  • The Grantley and Sawley Oil Club acts as the agent in facilitating the placing of an order on behalf of the member, but, once placed, the contract of supply is between the member and the chosen supplier: the Co-ordinator cannot accept responsibility for anything that may go wrong on the delivery day.
  • Members are requested to keep things as simple and concise as possible when communicating their requirements to minimise the cost to the Parish Council of administering the scheme.
PLEASE NOTE: IT IS THE INDIVIDUAL MEMBER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ADVISE OF ANY ACCESS DIFFICULTIES OR SPECIAL PROVISIONS THAT MAY BE REQUIRED WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE DELIVERY DATE.

This information can be supplied by the member and stored on the Co-ordinator’s database and used to notify the chosen supplier as deliveries are required.
