Oil Club

Are you interested in saving money on heating oil?
The Parish Council has set up an oil co-operative in the Parish – by pooling everyone’s orders we can negotiate a lower price.

Who can join?
Any resident / business in the parish who use domestic heating oil.

How does it work?
  • The Club Co-ordinator posts a notice in the Fountain Magazine, Parish Council Newsletter, noticeboards in Grantley and Sawley and e-mails existing members to inform them of ordering dates.
  • Members let the Co-ordinator know how much oil they want – either a fixed number of litres (minimum 500) or “fill-up the tank”. An estimate of the likely quantity is required for the co-ordinator to negotiate the total volume with suppliers.
  • The co-ordinator contacts various companies for prices based on the total volume, and places orders on behalf of each member with the cheapest supplier.
  • The oil is delivered on an agreed day and the supplier sends each member a bill for their own oil. The bill is payable direct to the supplier by cheque or card. The co-ordinator and the Parish Council do not handle any money.
  • You can join the Oil Club at any time. It is free to join and there is no commitment to remain a member.
There is an order every few weeks, so the chances of running short are limited, and members do not need to place an order for every scheduled delivery.  Click through to view the schedule of order dates.
