Grantley, Sawley, Skelding & Eavestone Parish Council is a small, rural, local authority funded largely by public money, and is responsible for ensuring that its business is conducted in accordance with the law and proper standards, and that public money is safeguarded and properly accounted for, and used economically, efficiently and effectively.

The Council has appointed a Clerk to the Council who acts as the Council’s advisor and administrator. The Clerk is also the Council’s Responsible Financial Officer and is responsible for administering the Council’s finances.

The Parish has a population in the region of 412 people and the precept for 2014/15 has been set at £6,223. The precept is the Council's main source of income and is collected for it by Harrogate Borough Council through the council tax system.

The Council is responsible for the maintenance of Sawley Village Green, Grantley Playing Field, two playgrounds, and also undertakes verge grasscutting and contracts a parish caretaker to carry out maintenance works in the parish. The Parish Council also manages the proceeds of the sale of the Parish Room (£147,607.20) as at 31st March 2013).

The Council's financial year runs from 1st April - 31st March.

The Council usually reviews its obligations and objectives and approves a budget for the following year at its November meeting. That meeting also approves the level of precept for the following financial year. The budget for the current financial year can be viewed via the tab on the left of this page.

At the Annual Parish Council, held in May, the Parish Council considers and approves the accounts for the previous financial period. The accounts are made up of a list of all the payments which were made, a list of the monies that were received and a bank reconciliation. The accounts for the last financial year (2013/14) can also be viewed via the tab on the left of this page.

The accounts from previous years can be viewed in the 'Archives' section of this site.
